I was primed to love this already as a huge fan of Maggie O’Farrell and literary historical fiction, but Land knocked the wind out of me. It’s a slow-paced narrative, and admittedly it took me while to really get into it. This is not intended to be a quick weekend read. It’s so worth taking the time, though, to bask in O’Farrell’s revelatory writing and let this land and this story seep into the marrow of your bones.
