Chokshi’s adult debut is a triumph! A haunting homage to fairy tales, this Gothic romance tells the story of a mysterious heiress through the lenses of her cherished childhood friend and her beloved bridegroom. But now her friend is gone and her husband has sworn not to pry into the past… --Matilda McNeely from Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, GA

This incredibly eerie and strange book follows a young boy whose mother inexplicably brings home a crane, and tells her two sons to refer to him as father. A retelling of a Japanese folk tale, the industrialist hellscape backdrop does very well to solidify what could be an absurd story. Very well written, great for sci-fi, horror, and folk story fans. --Alex Einhorn from Fountain Books in Richmond, VA

A complex, engaging story of a small Southern town grappling with racial justice, human rights, religion and murder in the mid 1970’s. Family ties and long-buried secrets are tested as a woman fights to clear the name of her beloved. An absolute page-turner filled with colorful characters in a rich setting. --Jamie Fiocco from Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, NC

Josh Bartlett had figured all the angles, changed his name, holed up as a small-town features writer in the seclusion of the Blue Ridge. Only a few weeks more and he'd begin anew, return to the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut and Molly (if she'd have him) and, at long last, live a normal life. After all, it was a matter of record that Zharko had been deported well over a year ago. The shadowy form Josh had glimpsed yesterday at the lake was only that—a hazy shadow under the eaves of the activities building. It stood to reason his old nemesis was still ensconced overseas in Bucharest or thereabouts well out of the way. And no matter where he was, he wouldn't travel thousands of miles to track Josh down. Surely that couldn't be, not now, not after all this.

This unique and engaging ABC primer is an exuberant celebration of African Americans in the Appalachian region and the physical spaces and historical events that may not be as well known in mainstream educational structures. Offered is a rich display of regional, racial, and cultural heritage through word and image.

I loved this heartfelt story of Lily and Nick! Through an initial online correspondence, then an in-person, undeniable attraction, both characters learn to love not only each other, but more importantly, learn to value their own stories. A sparkling novel about being yourself, and sticking up for who you are. --Monica Swofford from Bookmarks in Winston-Salem, NC
