Though she is not in favor of slavery, she wants to stay out of the hullabaloo. You always think that you know what you would do in certain circumstances. But living through it, you never know. Especially when it comes to your family. With her husband and son gone, she is left to carry on the farm and loses contact with her family. You won’t want to put this book down.
