Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton

An introspective and entertaining story of an unusual bond between a woman and a hare – and you learn a lot about hares! I enjoyed the author’s sens of wonder and curiosity and how her thoughts about nature and life changed through this experience. Quietly transformative, a joy to read!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab

How far would you go for freedom? Addie’s story is told across continents, over centuries, as she grapples with the consequences of choice. I love a morally gray heroine and seeing her desperation and the lengths she’d go to leave a mark on the world (influencing art and music). Achingly tender as she’s caught between the only man who ever remembered her – and the devil who won’t let her go.

Forget Me Not by Stacy Willingham

Stacy Willingham has done it again; she seems to never fail to write a great thriller mystery that will keep you guessing until the end. This one intertwines the past of the main character’s parents’ generation, then her sister, who was murdered 20 years prior to the story, and then the main character, Claire. Claire seems to be following right in the footsteps of her big sister as she returns home to help her mom, but then finds herself working at a vineyard, the same one her sister worked at. There are definitely a lot of secrets hiding at this farm, and her career as a journalist has her wanting to uncover them. The diary she found tucked away in her cabin seems to be the key to solving everything, but the more she learns, the more she should turn around and run, but she doesn’t. Super bingeable, and you will be wondering how often history repeats itself in real life.

Funny Story by Emily Henry

Emily Henry just GETS IT. She has the perfect recipe for a book that has just the right amount of humor, romance, and the kind of real-life hurdles that hit close to home. What sets this book apart are the characters, who are grappling with life’s ups and downs in a way that feels incredibly real. It’s the “just one more chapter” book that you’ll actually stay awake until 1 AM to finish. And hey, maybe I’m speaking from personal experience.

The Thrashers by Julie Soto

Ask my cat how much I enjoyed this book because I gave him the full rundown while pacing around my living room! Compulsively readable and emotionally layered, this is a fantastic YA debut with the sharp edge and angst of a 90s teen thriller. Julie Soto captures just how brutal high school can be. Loyalty, power, and popularity can quickly blur into something dangerous. Every page felt charged, and that final gut-punch of an ending has me hoping (begging, please Julie) for another one!

Saving Five by Amanda Nguyen

“Did we win?” “We did. But it cost us everything.” “Was it worth it?” “Yes. Every second of it.” This gutted me. Nguyen’s fight for justice has changed laws and lives, but this book reminds you of the little girl, the teenager, and the young woman who had to fight for herself first. Our system protects some and fails others. Rights that should be guaranteed are instead something people are forced to fight for. Yet Nguyen’s story is proof that even within a broken system, one person’s determination can create change, and hope is always worth holding onto.

Everything you could want and expect from Scarlett St. Clair when it comes to spice, romance, and an easy to follow fantasy. I was hooked and ready to fall down at King Adrian’s feet from the start, and my love was solidified as the book went on. A Well-Trained Wife by Tia Levings

This book shows the hidden world of fundamentalism so well. How easy it is to get involved in it and how hard it is to get out. As someone who grew up in the Baptist culture and had to reframe their mind as they got older this book hit home in a lot of spots. The way that her parents were not involved in the fundamentalist movement, but because of the church that they choose and how they taught the children, it ended up brainwashing them into being extremely fearful, thinking that there is only one way to be redeemed and one specific job for women to do. The author had plans for her life and goals, but the church told her that she was to work on finding a husband and being a wife and refused to give her help to further her education. In the end, this leads her to her abusive husband, who leads them into the life of a fundamentalist. The books that the author had read and the way that the church taught her was that it was her fault that her husband treated her the way they did, and thus started a spiral of her trying to do more and be better and feel like the abuse was deserved. Reading her suffering and seeing how close I could have come to this lifestyle myself made this book an emotional one for sure and one I will not forget anytime soon.

Wisteria by Adalyn Grace

A beautiful conclusion to a stunning young adult series that will leave you craving more of the story after the ending. This book shows what it means to truly wait and look for the one you love even if it takes centuries, but knowing that one day they will find you again. Their marriage starts off rocky, to say the least, with Blythe having tricked Fate into marrying her and not her cousin, who he thought was his long-lost love: Life. As things unfold and Blythe begins seeing memories she has no knowledge of having made, she begins to question who she really is and if there is more to her than what was once a strong-willed, sick girl. Fate begins to see that if he is stuck being with Blythe for the rest of her mortal life, he might as well make the best of it and not keep fighting her on everything, but soon discovers that he may actually be developing feelings for her and feels connected to her on an even deeper level. Will the two be able to work together and over come their fears in time to save Blythe’s life, again, or will history be repeating itself all over again leaving Fate with a fresh broken heart, and Blythe lost once again to the hands of Death?

A mind-bending, adventure-filled debut novel with an unusual premise: Nine-year-old Aubry contracts a strange illness that threatens to bleed her to death unless she keeps moving. So she spends her life on the run – constantly running – from one end of the earth to the other, below the earth and above, forever finding new places to go, for she cannot return to places she has been. It’s a fantastical journey that made me ask so many questions: Will she be cured? How does she endure? Why not give up? What a wild ride of a novel!
